Check Yourself...

Have you ever seen a picture of yourself and wondered "why did I wear that?" In an effort to elevate my personal style, I've decided to keep a photographic record of my daily fashion choices. Here are last week's highlights.

Monday: Styling Mannequins in Beverly Hills

Slim Khakis, pink and brown floral tunic, brown cotton Vneck sweater, pink Chuck Taylors

I exuded confidence in this outfit, even though one of my coworkers said I looked like a girl. (I don't know how that's possible, considering my beard was pretty heavy that day.) I'm not afraid of pink or a bold floral, especially in fashion conscious Beverly Hills.

Grade: A (The ankle exposing rolled pant, a nod to the men's spring catwalks, was the perfect finishing touch.)

Tuesday: Running Errands in LA

Grey knickers, green ombre striped Polo, yellow Chuck Taylors

I felt comfortable in this. It was a hot summer day in LA, and this shirt is feather light. Admittedly, I didn't put much thought into the shoes, they were thrown on in haste before I left the house.

Grade: C (Although I like the idea of a contrasting colored shoe, I wear these too often. An accessory might have been nice too, perhaps a funky man-bag?)

Thursday: Styling Mannequins in Hollywood

White skinny slouch jeans, black Tee, black elastic belt and suspenders, yellow Chuck Taylors

I felt great in this, although it was a hot day in Hollywood and these white jeans are deceptively heavy. They have lycra so they provided lots of flexibility for bending and lifting cumbersome mannequins. The hanging suspenders were fun and added a little edge to this otherwise simple outfit. They stayed out of the way all day, except for one tiny tangle with a mannequin's leg.
Grade: B+ (The black tee is a little boring)

Saturday: Dinner, Drinks and Club Hopping in West Hollywood

Faded denim super skinny jeans, lightweight fitted denim shirt, web belt, black pointy toe shoes
I decided to break the rule against pairing denim with denim. I think this outfit works because both pieces have a similar grey undertone and the fit is very modern. The belt added a little interest to the monochromatic ensemble, and the shoes were a nice change from the Chucks I usually wear. They felt comfortable and looked sophisticated. I loved wearing this outfit.
Grade: A- (Although I like the idea of the belt it's a little preppy for this look, an extra long leather belt with studs would be hot)

My average for this week is B. How do you think you'd do if you were to check yourself?
